I hope you enjoy teaching your child at home. Moreover, I hope now you understand better that building skills gradually is very important for your child.
We don't eat dessert before soup, right? We don't learn how to dance before learning how to keep balance.
Today I will tell you how this common sense rules apply to learning piano for your child's attention.
Physical and Super-structural Problems in Teaching Piano
In piano performance, onomatopoeic (voice) memory, the ability to see the notes, create sounds, hear oneself properly, distribute visual focus, control hands, fingers, and the force of impact represent physical problems.
The ability to evaluate sound and one’s own performance, think figuratively, perform creatively, enjoy performing – represent super-structural problems. This is exactly why we have to develop skills from simple to more advanced.

Did you learn how to play the 'White Cat - Black Cat' exercise? By the way in music world we call it the 'Chromatic Scale'
Did your child learn how to play the 'Spooky Sound' - the shorter version of the Chromatic Scale?
If yes, you may proceed teaching him to play the exercise all the way through. Don't push!

Practice the cards or Note Alphabet game. You CAN!
Bach's masterpiece 'MUSETTE':
- Sing the song with Solfeggio syllables
- Place cards as the song goes
Just don't push it!

GENTLE PIANO
Keep working with 'Musette' song. Play it with the program or/and sing the notes. Ask your child to place cards as the song goes.
It is so much fun and works so wonderful for the memory development of your child!
